square interview loop

Just finished the third and final interview at Square via coderpad.io. For those who’ve interviewed with Square before, what’s the typical timeline for offers and negotiation?

Didn’t you have to do onsite? I have done two telephonic screens and now I have scheduled onsite.

I’m in Washington rn so maybe that’s why I didn’t get invited for onsites. I just had 3 phone interviews.

what questions did they ask? Have onsite next week

Microsoft boban OP Jul 30, 2019

They were all pair programming. Mostly just building classes and simple algorithms like dfs with said structures. None were from leetcode!

Holy shit I hope more companies shift to models like this. That sounds way better than implement an LRU cache with a binomial heap while singing the national anthem

Did you apply via referral? New Grad? Yoe?

Microsoft boban OP Jul 30, 2019

They pinged me. New Grad.

Square interviews are my personal favorites. Each interviewer owns a question that we write from scratch and go through quite a bit of scrutiny before they can actually be asked in an interview. As for time line, I’m not sure. There’s definitely a Seattle office so I find it odd you did not have an on-site. Are you by some chance a university hire/intern interview?

Just saw you are a new grad.

Can I dm you for a referral?

It took them 4 work days after my onsite to extend the offer
