1. $225k with 2.2% equity, VP of eng starting a few months before series A. strike price is below $.50 run rate is $500k 2.or try to get in Faang What would Faang comp be? tc: $211k base yoe: 6 principal software engineer
Current Comp, level/GTFO?
Take the VP offer and try it out. If it ends up not working well you join FAANG at a better level.
225k base or is it 225k base+equity? I wouldn't take a pay cut unless I really believe in the mission of the startup. If you are on the fence about this, then don't do it. Startup management is usually a clusterfuck. Also, If you are joining pre-series A, you should get more in equity. The risk you are taking is not much less than the founders.

Ok thank you
Principle at 6 yoe? You must be really talented. 225k base is really good.
or the startup is desperate and indiscriminate🤷🏼♀️
2.2 % is really good
I would highly encourage you to speak with a lawyer to have them look over your offer terms. Some terms can really screw you over. But if it all checks out, go for it! I’ve said this before but why do you think we had 24 yo millionaires running around the valley back when fb and google ipo’d. High risk = high rewards. Try it out for a few years and if it sucks, then move on. FAANG companies love people who have worked at startups. It’s great experience!
Thank you! You’re very encouraging. I think I will.
Good luck!! Rooting for you!
There’s a lot of missing info here. What is your strike price? What round of funding is it in? What is the run rate?
Edited
So “1 year” is not a run rate.
