tc negotiation

Every time I negotiate with a recruiter (amazon at the moment) for higher TC, the response is always "Don't worry, if you perform well, your TC will increase in the future." Any strategy to handle such a response given that I don't have competing offers on the table? I'm doing interview but with a lesser company.
What components of the TC that we should and are easy to negotiate? Thanks!

Just answer "don't worry, if you perform well, your offer will be accepted in the future"

You don't have any leverage if you have no competing offers other than turning it down.

When talking with the hiring manager, I feel that there is a strong match between what I did in the past and the offered role. Can I use this as a leverage?

No. You can't argue a recruiter into a higher comp. You can only say "Nah fam, too low" (And be willing to actually pass), and see if they go higher.

If you're willing to take their offer if they don't go higher, you have no leverage.

Ask to take on more responsibilities than the current role. Sign on bonus or stock is the easiest to increase if the company is large and has rigid pay ranges per level.

Amazon refreshers are shit, don't listen to that recruiter.
Everything depends on stock growth, which (at 1650 now) seems very difficult in upcoming years.

"My current employer may balance your offer so it would become difficult for us to move ahead in decision"
