Sapphire Reserve

Chase Sapphire Preferred

Google bachataa Aug 15, 2019

The sapphire reserve and preferred are good cards, but I've never kept them past the first year with the bonus. I don't travel enough to have the fee be worth it

Microsoft HINs46 Aug 15, 2019

It comes with 4.5% restaurant cash back. Very easy to worth the $150 AF

CSR has a $450 yearly fee but also a $300 yearly travel credit. It’s easily worth the $150 fee IMO. So many perks to take advantage of, just read the points guy reviews on it.

Do you guys access lounges with it? I mostly travel inside US or Europe.

Yeah the CSR comes with priority pass. This gives you access to lounges and even restaurants ($28 credit) at most US airports and abroad as well.

It also will reimburse tickets/hotel/food if you have a delay of like 6hrs or cancelation. The travel benefits are a huge perk, but google them for a comprehensive list.

Uber credit card: 3% on hotel&air. No fee.

Google bachataa Aug 15, 2019

This is the right answer. Also, 4% on restaurants. All of it cash back.

I have it, it is great daily card

Amex Platinum (Charle’s Schwab flavor too) is better for lounge access if you fly delta and access their sky lounge or where AMEX CENTURION lounges exist. You also get priority pass. Many more perks than CSR. Also comes with $200 Uber credits and $200 airline credits (a bit confusing this perk, ask me if you want more deets). I have the Platinum and the CSP and I love having both for travel. Great complements.

Wells Fargo ostrich1 Aug 15, 2019

Only problem is that its Amex. Outside of the US only visa and Mastercard have ubiquitous acceptance without paying additional fees.

Indeed indoodle Aug 15, 2019

I’ve traveled in India, Asia, Latin America and EU. Amex acceptance is actually not bad now, but that’s the reason why I said CSP is a good complement, just for those times when AMEX is not accepted. But airlines, hotels, and big companies anywhere are very likely to accept AMEX and really that’s what the card is good for.

I use bank of america preferred rewards card now. Base is 1.5%/2% ut with account relationship it goes up to 2.62%/3.5%

Citi Costco Visa Signature card gives 3% on travel and restaurants worldwide with no annual fee. Also get 4% on gasoline worldwide (for the first $7k/year, 1% thereafter), 2% on Costco purchases (both warehouse and online), and 1% on everything else. Not to mention other benefits such as 24 months extended warranty on purchases and car rental and travel accident insurance. This means that if you’re a Costco Executive member, you will net 4% cash back for purchases at Costco made using this card (2% from the Executive membership + 2% from the credit card). Downsides - you must be a Costco member to apply for the card, there is no initial cash reward for joining, and cash rewards are only redeemed once per year.

Wells Fargo ostrich1 Aug 15, 2019

And only @ costco?

SAP informer Aug 15, 2019

You must be a Costco member to apply for the card but you can use the card (and get the category awards) anywhere.

SAP informer Aug 15, 2019

Here’s another one - American Express Cash Magnet card. Straight 1.5% cash back on all purchases and no annual fee. Pair this with another card which offers higher category rewards and use the AMEX for purchases that would otherwise only qualify for 1% cash back with your other cards. They were previously offering a $200 bonus for spending $1k in the first 3 months, though now it has dropped to $150.

Google bachataa Aug 16, 2019

If you're going to go for straight Cash back, don't do it for less than 2%. Citi double cash does that.

SAP informer Aug 17, 2019

Yes but there is no signup bonus for the Citi double cash. So you would only be ahead compared to the AMEX cash magnet card after spending more than $30k (or $40k if you were able to get the $200 AMEX signup bonus). For me, this would take a few years to reach given that it would be my fallback rewards card.

Chase Sapphire if ur looking for points. For points and ability to use ur credit card OUS at the actual exchange rate at that time and 0 intl transaction fees: Amazon Prime Chase Card (has always been aweseom). And recently, the Costco Citi card has waived intl txn fee

I use the amazon card only @ amazon and whole foods, Amazon's grocery store. I use bofa card elsewhere
