Very visible

Thanks ! But what kind of work do people say *non visible*? I enjoy fixing bug these days but saw many posts that fixing bug does not help as career wise..?

I feel sometimes it comes down to how you present something. Maybe more senior engineers can comment?

Weekend is made to rest and to not think about work.

I've said this before, almost all work is consequential by definition otherwise the company wouldn't be paying you to do it. The mistake junior engineers make is that they don't grasp the importance of that work and get hung up on bug fixing. Hey if fixing a bug increases customer satisfaction, that's impact right there. If a bug fix makes a system more reliable and prevents revenue loss, increases productivity etc, it's all consequential. Before fixing a bug, understand why it's important - if you can't get a good answer to that question then there's trouble. Usually your tech lead should be able to tell you exactly why it's important. Think about it another way, every product has a bug backlog that has hundreds of bugs - what makes this bug more important ?

I can’t understand why people hate bug fixing. It demonstrates a lot of the skills. Some bugs turn to features too.

I dont hate bug fixing. Tbh i just joined and startes to fixing bug and really enjoy work. Just worried what is the standard norm to judge ones ability. Heard too many horror story that one fixed buf and got pipped due to invisible work demonstration..maybe im too nervous

Remember to always benefit your engineering skills first before your company. You should seek tasks that challenge you to grow as an engineer so when shit hits the fan you can go to another company with strong portfolio, or else your skills set will be outdated because you been doing useless engineering tasks, anyone can crunch numbers in excel and do some graphs, just my 2cents

Yes, that's true but also need to strike a balance between what's technically challenging and what's really important for the company. If they are the same, that's awesome! If not, do a bit of both - one for your growth and the other for demonstrating impact.
