The funny thing is, it’s actually people who live in the present like PgX that are the happy ones. Mi8c2 thinks he’s so smart and cynical, like the rest of Blind including me, but we’re all miserable fucks chasing the high TC just for the sake of minimizing our potential suffering in the future while ironically being miserable in the present having not much to look forward to due to our frugal lifestyles that results from a mindset of pain minimization instead of utility maximization.

I find many aspects of life to be a big missed high five, one example being that it’s PgX that would be happiest with more TC but the wealth ends up going to us for investing in the future and we can’t enjoy spending since it makes us feel jittery and insecure.

lololol what???? First of all I’m a woman, second of all I’m not in tech and have a way lower TC than all of you, third of all I had my first child last year and was just joking around about the cost of kids/moreso how we have a cultural idea that kids have to cost a lot. I don’t think I’m “so smart and cynical”, I’m not a “miserable fuck” (in fact I usually get asked why I’m so happy all the time lol) and I am very happy for PgX that he’s happy with his lifestyle.
I am kinda floored that you’d read all that into my comment but I guess that’s Blind for you 🤷🏻‍♀️

That was a big oopsies on my part. I’m clearly projecting my own issues onto someone who just said a single sentence.

I’m frustrated that I can’t find anything as enjoyable in life anymore, like I’m bored with everything. No real life goals outside of finding someone and starting a family. But I can’t have a fulfilling relationship without being happy with my own life first so I need a real goal that I cannot find right now.

@TiCi wow, i really really appreciate your honest response. I think that the loneliness that comes from not finding a partner/starting a family when you want to is a very real feeling and I don’t fault you at all for having that be a tough thing in your life right now. Hoping for you that you can find something to pour yourself into that brings more fulfillment.

Only equity or a house that you paid off in full. If you own a 750k house and still owe 500k in debt, then your equity is 250k

As a finance worker let me point out two things. Equity in a home is determined only by appraisal or sale, and why would you exclude 401K? It’s literally an asset.
