I was recently LinkedIn approached by an AWS recruiter to interview for an opening in Seattle. After being assured that I would still be able to apply anytime in the future if failure, I gave it a shot. I made through the phone. Was invited onsite and greeted with 2 LC hard and 1 problem not seen anywhere. Therefore I didn’t make it. :( The HR (not recruiter) called me today to inform me of a rejection. I asked about when I could apply again. He said that while there would not be a hard block/waiting time keeping me from repplying anytime, hiring managers would be able to see the notes and feedback from this interview. Although I could technically reapply/ask for referrals anytime, he recommended that I try again after 1 year for any Amazon-related companies, like AWS, Robotics, Twitch etc. What exactly does this mean? Does it mean that my chances of reapplying and interviewing to Amazon companies within 1 year are slim if any future HM bothers to check the notes? Did I fail spectacularly? People are telling me that typically the waiting period is 6 months or none if no hard time is set. Any kind Amazonian with knowledge of how AWS/Amazon hires? Thanks!
I also failed yesterday
You profile literally said “Amazon”...
6 months I believe
They “recommended” 1 year but said no hard waiting time so I can reapply and ask for referral anytime. Vague 😑.
Pretty sure if you reapply within 6months, you will get automatically reject email
6 months if you were borderline. Longer if you weren’t even close.
😂 Update on this one: was contacted by another recruiter on LinkedIn. I wasn’t particularly interested in that team so didn’t move further :(
Recruiters will contact anyone they find on linkedin. Even us, who are working at Amazon. But when you apply, the system will reject if you’ve interviewed recently
You will be expecting some amazon/aws recruiters reaching out next week.
😂 Only if they assure me again. 2 modified LC hard, 1 system design, and 1 algo-design problem not seen on popular interview websites made me somewhat uneasy.
I got popular design questions. Did good but got rejected still. After 2 weeks, 3 recruiters reached out.
