I havenāt done shit today!
honestly...i am always depressed that my peers are ahead in life, making money, getting married. bay area is terrible...or is this all in my head?
Youāre not alone! God has been kind enough but Iāve never had a āgreatā moment in life, successful results (not success) have come to me almost always late when it doesnāt matter any more and Iāve grown anxiety over this, which i never thought i would. Just want to feel good and live a happy lifeš (but thats too much to ask)
You and every other person feels like that. Choose to enjoy what you have now.
Don't look to people above you. Look to people below you, there are people who can't find place to live in or food to eat. There are a lot of people who have very serious diseases and can't enjoy their lives. Prophet Muhammed said: āThe one among you who wakes up secure in his property, healthy in his body and has his food for the day, it is as if the whole world were brought to him.ā
Actually you should put more effort. Everyone can perform better. You just have to take one step extra. It's like when you are creating a simple demo of say showing a picture on browser, if you go one step forward and make it look good with good UX, you stand out. Just do that with every code, or idea you come up with, and you'll succeed.. That effort is minimal, but impact is very high. People will remember it.
Try harder.
I like Houston! Southern hospitality, high job pay, low cost of living. I am an engineer with 9 years experience making $170k. I live in a 3 bedroom house that I bought in cash (debt-free, no mortgage) for $218k. And you can get a direct flight almost anywhere. Houston is also a majority minority city, so there is lots of diverse cultures and amazing food too.
Bay area sucks, unfortunately. Move to a tier 2 city with more diversity which isn't majority filled with hard slogging Chinese and Indians.
Same. I wouldn't say I am depressed but I feel envious that I am "lagging behind" in life in almost every aspect - personal and professional. I feel I have struggled much more than my peers to achieve the same outcomes - sometimes so much more that it seems unreal and hard to explain or understand.
@op What is your TC?
Do you think if you go somewhere else suddenly everyone is the same? You need to make your own peace
