Download app Webull. They have short sell for account > $2K and also have free commission like Robinhood.
Place a “Sell short” order at the value you want to short. Place a “Buy to cover” order when you want to buy back. E*TRADE.
Careful with BA shorting.. based on events that unfolded BA should be trading at $150 but MMs are holding it up as long as possible hoping for this debacle to end.. but no end is near.. BA is a mess, the new GE, but it is easy to manipulate with low float and HFT.. it is 11% of the DOW weight.. and also in everyone’s 401k.. so not ideal for first short stock experiment
Can buy put options on Robinhood. Probably the easiest. Buy at-the-money contracts w at least 6 months to expiration.
Companies can stay overvalued way longer than investors can stay solvent. Shorting a stock successfully requires you to get two things right: direction (down) and timing (short duration). Let’s say you have a 70% chance of getting each of these correct individually. 51% chance you will lose. Don’t do it.
