Got offers from three teams, one is a monitoring and observability team for a very high growth product through acquisition - more of distributed engineering , then another ML team as a data engineer, another team which wants to do ML as a data engineer come with a background in heavy distributed systems with dev, devops and SRe exp as i worked for a startup. now confused which one to choose ? the data engineer role might be a step back ? as im fundamentally a distributed systems and also a application developer. on the ML side was hoping i could learn some ML concepts and get going in that area, but do data engineers ever get exposed to such things ? any advice ? Data ML is pretty dull, but at least you get to apply it.
Did you say which company, or have I missed it?
Data engineering sucks
No u wont get to do actual ML in data engineering. You will be doing data manipulation work that is required by ML folks.
Obs is a pretty cool space to be in at a high growth product. Lots of interesting problems, opportunity for publishing papers, patents, or giving talks
