Does anyone have experience working at IBM as a designer? if so, what is the interview process like?
1. If you have a friend in a group, ask if they can make you a band 8 and you can split their bonus too. 2. Just say you love to think about your users and stories. They’ll make you a Principal Designer.... I mean design principal on the spot! 3. You are willing to throw developers under the bus by creating designs that had no input from said developers. 4. Be a god damn advocate about putting stickies on the wall and make sure you write feel good LinkedIn posts. 5. Most importantly use percentages when showing metrics. Say you have 1000% increases in users when you really increases it from 0-10. Good luck! You’ll be at least a Band 8 “design lead” now!
I can’t believe they are still hiring designers. The design practice is already over-saturated in my opinion.
What makes you say that? Design touches every aspect of a product or service’s lifecycle and IBM has a ton of products, it would make sense to me there are a lot of designer. I’m curious to hear your take on it is all. 🙂
I’m not disagreeing that design is required, it’s just that we have already hired SO MANY, idk how Arin still has hiring tickets.
