90% of Amazon Employees Think WLB Will Improve Under Andy's Leadership

Earlier this week, Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos announced that he would transition to executive chairman, and Amazon Web Services chief Andy Jassy will take the CEO spot.

Under Bezos, Amazon is known for its intense “performance improvement plan” culture.

On Blind, the largest anonymous professional network, a user asked, “Will WLB improve under Andy’s leadership?”

However, one Amazon employee was not as optimistic and commented, “No because AWS wlb sucks compared to a lot of retail side due to ops work.”

Just last week, an Amazon employee posted on Blind, “One of my employees is on PIP, and my team is a rockstar team. I fought with management and ranted, but I can’t help but feel sad. Will Amazon ever change their stupid culture. People complain about Managers, but we don’t even have a say in this anymore. It’s like you either let your employee go or you go.”

A different user shared, “I was a top performer at Amazon. Still got piped. One of the worst companies to work for. After I left Amazon, I made more money, more peace, more WLB.”

On Blind Pulse, Amazon has a score of 55% in terms of work-life balance. However, employees feel optimistic that under Andy’s leadership, “PIP” culture will decrease and ultimately result in more work life balance.
