It’s not a secret that women are underrepresented in tech. To address this issue, networking groups have popped up for female engineers, product managers, and women in other technical roles. The groups provide mentorship and a supportive community, which some women may not otherwise find in their workplace. If you’re in San Francisco, check out the groups listed below. For those of you located in a different city, many of the groups offer events nationwide and even internationally!

1. Write/Speak/Code is on a mission to increase the visibility and leadership of women and non-binary coders. The organization offers conferences and meetups in cities across the country. Chapters are located in San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, and Atlanta. The next San Francisco meetup takes place on May 18 with a panel of engineering leads.

2. Women Who Code inspires women to excel in tech careers and is working towards a vision where women are proportionally represented as leaders in the industry. Becoming a member of Women Who Code will give you access to coding resources, the WWCode job board, and a global community. Women Who Code holds conferences and network events worldwide. Check out the next developer conference, WWCode CONNECT 2018, in San Francisco on April 28.

3. Women Level Up provides meetups for software engineers and web developers who identify as female, non-binary, and/or are from underrepresented backgrounds. Women Level Up is targeted towards junior and mid-level programmers who are looking to level up their skills and become the next team leads. Meetups generally occur on a monthly basis in San Francisco. Check out some of their past events here. If you’re an experienced professional in the industry, you can volunteer as a speaker.

4. PyLadies is a mentorship group with a focus on helping women become participants and leaders in the Python open-source community. The group hosts outreach programs, conferences, and events. PyLadies is an international community with meetups worldwide and discussion groups online. Check out next week’s San Francisco event on April 19.
