⅓ of Workforce Believes They Will Return To The Office By Summer

Yesterday, Microsoft announced it would start bringing workers into its Seattle-area HQ on March 29.

On Blind, the largest anonymous professional network, an SAP professional posted, “Joe Biden said everyone will get vaccinated by May. Does that mean we will all be going back to the office soon?”

According to 7,000 professionals on Blind, 67% believe we will be back in the office by the end of next year. The other ⅓ of professionals believe they will be back in the office in the summer.

A salesforce Engineer posted, “I’m not going back to the office ever.”

Despite Microsoft’s announcement, only 41% of Microsoft professionals believe they will return to the office in the summer. Only 17% of JPMorgan professionals think they will be back in the office in the summer.

A professional on Blind shared, “Please don’t. Love wfh and love the highway no traffic.”

Another professional on Blind shared, “I love WFH. The idea of driving to work every morning for 45 mins to an hour is so silly to me right now. We get back an hr and a half to 2 hrs of commute every day we don’t get paid for. I think we are effective remotely, especially in the tech field, since most of our time is spent on work and not on the small talk around the office. The only people who I think might feel otherwise are the managers since they spend most of their time on meetings since video calls can be very draining.”

A NVIDIA professional stated, If I am forced to go back in the office, no way am I going to put in the same amount of time I do right now with WFH. Once I leave the office, I am done outside of answering a few emails.”

An Amazon professional posted on Blind, “Boomer bosses think they can just put the genie back into the bottle. Well, that’s not going to happen to anyone with an ounce of talent. No commute time, commuting cost, getting sick because someone in the office is sick, and less pollution and traffic.”

A Bank Of America professional said, “I never want to see the office again due to commuting and having to dress up every day. Mostly commute and having to get up at the crack of dawn.”

An Amazon professional said, “FB and G employees will go back to office 100% ASAP due to free food”

This was confirmed by a Facebook professional who posted, “I need my free food. I will suffer through my luxury shuttle ride for an espresso and waffles, followed by an exotic cuisine for lunch and a 3-course dinner. Maybe mid-day I’ll even drop by the sweet shop for some homemade ice cream or a tart. Followed by a trip to the brand new gym to burn some of it off.”

That Microsoft Memo finishes off by stating, “With our hybrid workplace model, we will provide employees an exceptional place to work, create greater collaboration and community for over 160,000 people who work at Microsoft, and showcase an example of the modern workplace that is both flexible and hybrid.”

However, most professionals don’t seem to be rushing back.
