According to the professional social network Blind and its community of more than 5 million verified professionals, Florida ranked highly among the best-paying cities for software engineers in the United States.

These are the top four best-paying cities for software engineers in the Sunshine State, considering the salary and total compensation, including the annual base salary and any stock-based compensation and cash bonuses that employees might earn.

1. Miami

  • Median total compensation: $133,325
  • Average salary: $126,879
  • Median base salary: $124,500

Mayor Francis Suarez has made headlines for courting Silicon Valley investors to relocate to Miami, and many cryptocurrency and financial-technology firms, in particular, have heeded his call.

Miami was the 42nd best-paying city for software engineers in the U.S. by average total compensation and is the No. 1 city by average total compensation in Florida, according to Blind.

The Big Tech giants Meta, which owns Facebook, and Microsoft have many tech workers in the Magic City. The southern Florida city also calls many banks and financial services companies home, including Blockchain.com, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley and others.

2. Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

While only 25 miles separate Fort Lauderdale from Miami, there is a slight discount in pay for software engineers when moving from Miami-Dade to Broward County.
