No work life balance, 60+ hours is the expectation for everyone

Remote jobs ≠ Outsourcing?
Before Covid US Citizens : H1Bs are cheap labor. They're taking our jobs. Remove H1B. H1Bs: We are not cheap! Post Covid US citizens: Jobs are moving to asia. Stop outsourcing. H1Bs: +1 #wayfair #google #ebay #walmart #meta #amazon
Lol. It’s so over. Buddy of mine is hiring react devs off upwork, some for 20 an hour. The work quality is the same as many amazon SDEs. How much longer can this money train last. Outsourcing is going to kill salaries. Throw in AI, I’m getting out of this career asap.
So I will have the 4 interviews for a senior software engineer position next week. Isn't it weird (I expect people with 7+ yoe to get microsoft sr. interviews)? I have 9 moths (3 fulltime + 6 pat time) internship at amazon + 2.6 yrs at an outsourcing company (client sap) + 6 month at another outsou...Read more

Outsourcing and consulting firms — which provide IT services for companies whose main business isn’t tech, and which tend to rely more heavily on H-1B visas as a share of their overall workforces — have received the brunt of the decline in approvals. I live in 3rd world country and there are no FAANG representatives, it's mostly soulless outsourcing and I feel like I don't have future as SWE here. But I live a decent life here, c...Read more
