Compensation is not bad since the recruiters are so desperate to fill their jobs asap that you can ask for the world without any attention to internal compression.
It’s a dog eat dog world now. No longer is Gap the company that values or supports family or cares about employee engagement, loyalty or tenure. You move up by who you know and how you look. Forget about diversity in the workplace. That’s all lip service. If you’re white and tall, this place is perfect for you.
I have an app idea but am wondering if a phone-gap would suffice in VC demos for pre-seed funding. I can then take the funding and use it to hire a proper app developer to make the actual app. For context, I have 0 technical experience. Seems like many demos these days are just done with a pitch de...Read more
Consider the following: 1) Anyone doing a 3 month's coding boot camp can get a job of a software engineer, even in FAANG (eg. the guy who founded Algoexpert). 2) It's not difficult to find people with a commerce background now established as SWE's or architects. 3) The pay gap between someone workin...Read more
Why is the causal dating so dead in US? I have been trying to meet people on apps but everyone seem to be looking serious. In my home country ugly looking men are finding good chicks for ONS or situationships. I feel like being in India just for the same reason but there is a huge pay gap that’s sto...Read more

A side gig app I was building for "fun" after work and weekends got attention of a notable VC. After answering some questions, I just received the news that they want to invest mid-high 6 figures into it for 10%. I don't want to quit my day job since I'm not 100% passionate about my app, nor is the...Read more
Literally all you had to do is make an official window manager and port some Linux tools over. You don't have to deal with an "app gap" or even support Intel for most users. Windows was on the brink with Win8 and you missed your chance to stamp it out.
Graduated in niche field with few jobs outside working on 40 year old nuclear power plants. Saw a cool, relevant posting for working on 🛰️ at a defense co and joined up. Is it better to leave a gap for layoff period or put in a irrelevant role that you've been doing in between? I was hit by layoff middle of last year. The job I've been working between the layoff and now is an AI sec role that has nothing to do with app sec eng. I feel that I'm not getting interviews...Read more

After saving about $200k at 24, I’d want to take a couple years off to travel, enjoy my life, do mathematics, and build ios side projects. I currently make about $10k a year from my apps on the side and I’d love to see if I can take that somewhere higher. Assuming I can live a great life for 2 year...Read more
