Great work life balance, I work a max of 20 hours a week. Great moonlighting policy.
We don’t hire the best talent. We hire talent that fills our diversity quotas and so you get a lot of people that feel they are being treated unfairly while making 300k+. Takes forever to ship anything. Very hard to get promoted past senior.
Hello! I have applied to some positions at GitHub, but have not heard anything from them. Then this morning I get an email from what APPEARS to be the GitHub application system requesting to sign an NDA before an upcoming interview. My first thought is of course "It's a trap!" since there have been...Read more
Blind community, I’m an entry level sales and was laid off. I’m applying to GitHub and want to email the manager (this is expected, they expect you to cold email or call them) but I cannot find HM’s email and all my guesses keep bouncing back. Could someone please let me DM them? I know this is a hu...Read more
Not sure if anyone else experienced this, but a Github recruiter reached out and asked for my Github handle in order to send me a take-home exercise. I promptly sent my info to them, and got ghosted. No exercise, no communication, no nothing. I sent an email follow up and a LinkedIn follow up, but ...Read more
I did the take home assignment for Github SWE. I separated everything nicely into packages. Wrote abstractions over necessary things. Wrote well tested code and took performance considerations on all aspects of the code. Commented all my code and made sure it was readable. Even though they give yo...Read more
GitHub is forcing everyone to undergo a pointless 2FA exercise by enabling 2FA on all accounts soon ("by the end of 2023"); one of the steps is generating 2FA recovery codes. How do you store these recovery codes? How many people simply send these to themselves via email? What's the point of forc...Read more
All access has been removed at 12am midnight. Mac got locked, slack got signed out, GitHub account has been removed. Everyone was so panic, thought there was a technical glitch at first, but no one from the IT oncall team was asked to fix the issue, so it seemed more likely to be a massive layoff. ...Read more

Is it normal to wait 3 months for a response? I keep following up every few weeks and the recruiter says the team is extremely busy but I am still very much under consideration. I usually make a new GitHub account for each use case thus far. For example, I have a personal GitHub where I put my own projects. I then have an account for school that is linked to my cs org. At work I made another one with my work email. Do most of you just use one account and somehow link it to...Read more
