- Still a good company on paper with competitive comp, great benefits, and well positioned in the current shift to AI-focused technologies - Still has a lot of great people that are both incredibly talented and kind
The current climate of economic scarcity and aggressive shifts to AI is forcing Google to make some hard choices. I don't think it's that Google has fundamentally changed, but that it's shifted from a "peace time" state to a "war time" mentality. The problem with this shift is that those who thrive in war time mindsets are gaining influence and are likely to impact long term culture. There are still a lot of wonderful and resilient leaders in Google who are fighting for the culture, but they're burning out as business demands continue to mount.

I keep seeing posts from people contracting at Google. Some apply for a regular permanent full time role and are then offered the same role as a contractor. Others apply for jobs that advertised as temporary. With team matching taking so long, maybe it wouldn’t be a terrible idea to tell the Google ...Read more

While I appreciate that I can get back into the job market having recently lost a job I felt that the compensation being offered is a low-ball offer. Not having a job gives little leverage on things...Read more
