- Still a good company on paper with competitive comp, great benefits, and well positioned in the current shift to AI-focused technologies - Still has a lot of great people that are both incredibly talented and kind
The current climate of economic scarcity and aggressive shifts to AI is forcing Google to make some hard choices. I don't think it's that Google has fundamentally changed, but that it's shifted from a "peace time" state to a "war time" mentality. The problem with this shift is that those who thrive in war time mindsets are gaining influence and are likely to impact long term culture. There are still a lot of wonderful and resilient leaders in Google who are fighting for the culture, but they're burning out as business demands continue to mount.
What a joke. The creator of this “union” has been at Google for 1.2 years. She has submitted a pathetically low amount of code, and yet she has the audacity to claim “We built Google. This is not the company we want to work for.” THEN LEAVE. You aren’t the coworker we want to work next to. You have ...Read more

Looks like Google employees want to form a union. I have a google L4 final round coming up in a couple weeks. My understanding is that union find is so rarely used in ds/algo tests that it’s not worth learning. Recently though I spoke with a former google engineer who said it does come up occasionally, perhaps as much as dynamic programming (which...Read more
Should I spend time on it or focus on more common DSA?
If I have to choose between both which one would you recommend and why?
It's clear that companies like Google are most scared of one thing - workers coming together to put pressure on the company. Should make every worker question their own and the company's motivations. https://www.vice.com/en/article/pkdqaz/lazy-money-oriented-single-mother-how-union-busting-firms-co...Read more
