Im watching closely this entire discussion about s386/hr1044 Since this is end of october, will hr1044 still be possible this year? Will it take effect in 2020 or 2021 the earliest?
Omnibus bill text is out (5593 pages) and no mention of hr1044 or s386 anywhere. No changes to h1b lca or perm or green card. I don't think anyone is interested in passing this one even in the next term. #workvisa #h1b
Just my 2 cents: 1- If they want to introduce a positive change, let's first increase the ridiculous cap on eb visas, maybe add extra 100K (the extra cap can be free from country limits), this will help to clear the backlog. 2- If this bill succeeds (unlikely) there will be an exodus of non-Indian s...Read more
Is it just going to be the norm on blind that any post about this topic that doesent support the bills will be flagged into oblivion? Why are supporters so afraid of free speech and discussion even trying to get this passed without debate in the senate?
Are there any updates on when this bill be floored in the senate for approval? Last I heard was that Sen. Lee had removed Sen. Durbin’s objections.
The root cause is H1B visa abuse. Look at what those Indian consulting companies like Infosys are doing ! There is no green cards budget increase. It hurts ROW and diversity. We shall solve the root cause !
Does anyone know what are the chances of this proposal to pass? Does anyone know when is it going into affect if it passes?
I saw this chart online. I am now in the process to start my green card application and I am from Europe. Does this mean I wont get my green card in 10 years at least?
ROW is concerned about the increased wait time due to this bill. ROW is asking Indians why not increase GC so that it will fix problem for everyone. ROW resented that Indians are working on a bill which would harm ROW, but what they are not realizing is that Indians would love to have more GCs beca...Read more
These bills seek to remove the per country cap in employment based green card category making it free from discrimination on an applicant's country of birth. This is a much needed relief for many backlogged tech workers who have been working in USA, legally, for decades with absurd GC wait times li...Read more
Do you think it's going to pass? What effects do you think it'll have on the tech industry? I personally think the increased mobility will lead to wage increases for everybody.
So at this point everyone knows the problem with hr1044 is that the India queue contains a very large number of low quality applications submitted by Cognizant, Wipro, Infosys, etc, and that high quality applicants from r.o.w. would end up waiting years while these low quality applicants are process...Read more

To all the Rand Paul haters (who blocked S386): I guess you were wrong. He just introduced S2091 which includes a variant of S386 (i.e. it removes country caps) but at the same time significantly increases (eff. 4x) the total number of available GCs, especially employment-based GCs. This should effe...Read more

It’s very likely that this won’t pass because of the number of poison pills in it. At least can they get the early aos added so that we are not at the mercy of the consulate officers whims every single time we go outside for stamping. Btw RoWs comments hating Indians is so depressing :( #workvisa #...Read more
This is a thread not to support or oppose the bills, but to invite points to be made in good faith from both sides. Those who will personally benefit or lose from the bills are requested to disclose their personal impact and make logical arguments on either side. OPs disclosure: I am an Indian cit...Read more
This is meant to open a proper discussion. Please do not target any group with insults or hate. I have Indian friends, and I care about them as well. Let's start with the things I believe we agree on: - American jobs should protect American citizens first and foremost - H-1B body shops whose sole...Read more
