Lots of competent colleagues; you will work with good engineers who can get things done. The infra is pretty good which enables you to be productive. Perks are great and all-cash compensation is pretty nice too.
Management in engineering is so-so from my experience, really good explicit communication but also not willing to put the right process in place to make planning and execution as efficient as it could be. The company is changing a lot right now as it transitions from the old no-level world to a more typical organization with lots of juniors, fair number of seniors, and a few staff+. I think the change will be for the best in the long run but the culture hasn't quite adapted yet.
A tech company in todays world implies a few things. Namely that you work with technology (synonymous with anything touching computers these days, which I think is a fallacy, but I digress). But also that you are high growth and “innovating”. When we look at Netflix, it should be obvious that all th...Read more
Idk why Blinders worship Netflix. It’s all cash true, but this company is just a cult. You aren’t working with the highest IQ or the best engineer on the market. You are working with people who vibe with Netflix culture and having a high IQ isn’t a prerequisite to working here. Like i can see why q...Read more
Netflix really has the best culture for at least senior engineers (I know only about engineer roles). If you are contemplating switching companies, you should seriously consider Netflix. Netflix tries very hard to set up coherent policies to properly incentivize its engineers, and it executes them c...Read more

I don't want to live in California, but I do want my next company to be one where I'm empowered to make things great, where the talent density is high, where trust in high, where pay keeps up with market and where there is little secrecy and lots of candor. What are there some companies that have a...Read more
Do you recommend using the company laptop for personal use? Netflix and all other browsing? What are the consequences?
What is the future of Netflix? What advantages do they have so they can hold on to their current position? They’ve been losing so much great content. They’re producing a lot of their own content but most of that is not as good. They also have strong engineering culture. What other exclusive asset...Read more

What is the truth? I have read a lot of posts and articles and its all negative. Is it really that bad? If compared with Amazon , which is a better company?
Not wondering for employment or hiring wondering about for my portfolio and investment strategy. I know Netflix used to be but seems like all entertainment companies are streaming now. Netflix’s competitive advantage was their tech. Now it’s their entertainment IP ? Their tech doesn’t seem like it’s...Read more
Netflix only hires senior engineers. I’m sure this works in their favor, which leads me to wonder why other companies don’t do the same. Of course if no company hired junior engineers, our industry would grind to a halt, but I would think that most companies are “greedy” (in the algorithm sense) an...Read more
What I mean is to ask if any company in the Bay Area pays as much as Netflix. I don’t mean the way they pay but the total amount they pay. I don’t think Google or Facebook pays as much as Netflix. I could be wrong. I know Apple certainly doesn’t. Oh by the way, I am interested in Software only.
Sincere question. N is right there in FAANG. But really, why? Haven’t seen Netflix innovate at all outside of the “skip intro” button. Recommendations are crap. There are half a dozen equally good services (Disney, Prime, Peacock etc). Once upon a time their JavaScript work was top notch, but what c...Read more

Hi, is it safe to use company VPN to watch Netflix content from another country?
Is Netflix still tech company or would you say Content is King and it’s a media studio now? I remember when the recommendations engine was its bread and butter. But now it feels secondary.
Has anyone used company VPN for watching Netflix content not available in the US? Is it risky?
