Lots of competent colleagues; you will work with good engineers who can get things done. The infra is pretty good which enables you to be productive. Perks are great and all-cash compensation is pretty nice too.
Management in engineering is so-so from my experience, really good explicit communication but also not willing to put the right process in place to make planning and execution as efficient as it could be. The company is changing a lot right now as it transitions from the old no-level world to a more typical organization with lots of juniors, fair number of seniors, and a few staff+. I think the change will be for the best in the long run but the culture hasn't quite adapted yet.
I’ve heard that most ICs at Netflix have senior SE titles, and it seems there are even no internal levels like FB (from levels.fyi). So does that mean there is no promotion at Netflix? How do they reward top performers? Also regarding technical leadership, how to decide who are tech leads for a tea...Read more
interviewing for an IC role at netflix. I know they only hire seniors so it seems their org structure is pretty flat. how should I discuss my career goals and growth within that structure? i.e. i want to show that i am ambitious but aware that their promotion path may not be as “stairlike”. #tech #...Read more
Looking at a job that's a Director of Product Innovation for Promotional Media. What do you think they'd be looking for on consumer experience in such a role? Also do you think it's More Product? More Marketing? More Growth?
I have a family friend that works at Netflix and when asked for a referral she said that they dont hire young people very often and I need more experience. I’m an SDE 1 at Amazon, been there for 1.5 years (on the track for a promotion but can’t stand the culture) with 3yoe would love to get a refer...Read more
I have been with Salesforce for past 3 years and had multiple promotions in these years. I am thinking of switching jobs. How open would netflix be to someone like me? My areas of interest: big data, distributed systems etc. TC: 250K #hiring #recruiting
Manager says I’m on track to promote to L6 within next 1.5 years. Current team is good, but trending downwards because of upper management. Looking to maximize TC and grow as an engineer. Should I wait for promotion and try for Netflix L5, or start interviewing for Netflix L4? TC: 300k YOE: 3
Got down leveled by Netflix so trying to understand how easy it is to get promoted to L5 at Netflix ? Is it time based or solely up-to Manager ? TC is posted in poll below. Apple team is core product team -- customer facing feature work with tons of visible impact. Will the recurring TC grow over time with refreshers + bonus? Netflix team is okish work, kind of boring, but I'm a high performer and can see promotion to E4 fairly soon. Appl...Read more

What's the average working years in Netflix? How hard to get promotion to be manager level?
For tenured folks, did you always know when you were up for a promotion (I.e., manager mentioned putting you up for a promotion)? I’ve had two promotions in the past 3 years (different companies) and have never explicitly discussed promotions with my managers. I was probably lucky to have managers ...Read more

Personally, I think I'd go Microsoft -> Amazon -> Apple -> Facebook -> Netflix -> Google. - Prioritize companies that are the cheapest and/or have high turnover first, try to get a quick promotion. - Definitely Facebook earlier on, but not before reaching terminal level (E5) - Netflix has
