I’m a female SWE at Snapchat and need to vent. I just went on a date with a guy who is working as a SWE at a no-name tiny company... He gave me a speech the entire time about how I was only hired at Snap due to affirmative action. WTH? Do guys actually believe this, or they just say it to stroke th...Read more
I joined Snap less than a year. Probably got into the wrong team but didn’t realized that from the beginning. The team’s work is very uninteresting, mostly fixing and maintaining an internal platform. There hasn’t been much learning as the system is pretty simple and standard. My manager is new do...Read more
Looking at Snap job postings, they are grouped by YOE. It seems the cutoffs are 1+, 3+, 5+, 8+. I am assuming these map to levels: 1+ - L3 3+ - L4 5+ - L5 ... Any insight on this? I have 2 YOE but would like to apply for L4 (which is the equivalent of SDE2 I believe?)
Hi! I am a mechanical engineer from Rice University. I have a backgound in drones as well as Product Management. I'm looking for a recommendation to the Snap Pixy product line. Would love any guidance. Thanks! #tech #jobs #snap #pixy #drone #drones
What's the current WFH/remote policy for Snap? (last post asking this I saw was a year or so old) and how fixed are job locations? (i.e. if a role is advertised in one location like Seattle, can you still do it from LA or vice versa?) thanks #snap #snapchat
"The company made the decision that building up ARES would take “significant” investment and it couldn’t continue to fund those efforts. I see job posting is tittled as "Software Engineer, Tech Lead", what level is this? If the level is somewhat close to staff+ I would appreciate a referral. #tech
I know most people on this site are engineers but does anyone know what comp might look like for these roles? Assume it's for someone a few years out of a top MBA program.
I often see job deacriptions asking c++, ios, swift, etc. What’s tech stack there? Do you have any of Java?
#snap "Software Engineer, Backend, 1+ Years Experience" I assume this means it is an L3 position correct?
Hi I am going to start on a software engineer role at Snap soon. I am going to be L4 and I already have 7 years of experience. What can I do to be successful. Thanks
I have over 7 years experience as a Program Manager in the Oil and Gas industry at an Oil Major as well as 3+ years tech/business experience doing side business ventures. So I got laid off after 2 months, should I apply to new grad roles with my old resume as if I'm a new grad still, or apply with my updated resume. Obviously I was onboarding for most of the time so I didn't do much outside of improving our testing infrastructure and some schema changes. Any advice ...Read more
