If you can survive here, you can survive anywhere. Made me a millionaire through stock appreciation over the years.
Absolute mayhem, at least in the Starship org. Ridiculous deadlines and designs seem half-assed to meet them. Expect to take on 2-3 people’s workload. Your sanity will be tested, but you will be rewarded if you can last 4-5 years and vest.
Hey Blind - Was wondering about pay for cleared engineers at SpaceX. Looking to leave MSFT, and SpaceX came on my radar. WLB seems bad, was curious how it is for cleared engineers? My questions: 1. Is there a clearance bonus at SpaceX? 2. What is WLB for cleared engineers? 3. Would clearance bonus...Read more
Do Tesla and SpaceX pay engineers well compared to FANG? Did any early engineers become millionaires working at Tesla? Would it be financially lucrative to join a similar boring company at a very early stage?
Been at G for about a year and entertaining an interview at SpaceX after a recruiter reached out. I have no exposure to SpaceX, but generally curious how they compare to FAANG. specifically looking at nontech and starlink. L6 8yoe 250tc
Recruiter reached out for senior SWE role. Worth interviewing? I heard 60h/w weeks are expected, is the pay commeasurate (higher than my current comp)? How is comp structured? $410K 7 YOE L5 35h/w
I've been passionate about space my whole life and got my bachelor's in Aerospace Engineering because of it. Decided to leave that career and start in SWE and am currently an AI/ML Engineer with a masters in CS and ML. I think working on a space project with AI would be a dream but I hear that the W...Read more
Asking for a friend who is not on blind. He had 7 years experience, four years at Harley Davidson. What kind of compensation could he expect?
Should I max out my 401k for the year or use my savings to cover an upcoming vest of SpaceX stock? I’ve only contributed around 8k for the year and can crank my contribution way up given that I’ve saved up some money for this vest. Also, to cover the vest in full I’d need to pay 15k. 401k sounds nic...Read more
Has anybody here worked for SpaceX or any other aerospace companies in the software engineering sector? I would love a referral.. Its always been my dream to work in that industry, but I hear pay isn’t so great. Currently self employed/freelancing. 3 years of experience. Specialized in mobile app...Read more
Saw a lot of positions there. Since spaceX is not a public company, I guess there is no RSU. So how is the pay there? Do people get more base+bonus? And in general, is it a good place to work compared to other top chip design companies like FAANG, nvda, amd, etc?
I know/heard SpaceX pays the entire health insurance premium. Do they do the same for dependents too? And does it apply for dental and vision too?
Hi all, I've been working as a hardware engineer at SpaceX. The problems are interesting but pressure is high and I haven't felt like the workplace culture is a great fit. Recently I received an offer from a relatively unknown, small robotics company as an embedded engineer. The TC ($96k) is less th...Read more
SpaceX's request that the US military foot the bill has rankled top brass at the Pentagon, with one senior defense official telling CNN that SpaceX has "the gall to look like heroes" while having others pay so much and now presenting them with a bill for tens of millions per month. According to the...Read more

Does SpaceX or Apple have more social prestige (ignore pay, WLB, etc).
Given same pay, same level Microsoft Netflix Nvidia Airbnb Google Meta Amazon Snowflake Apple Apple LinkedIn Databricks Uber OpenAI Stripe Tesla SpaceX Twitter MidJourney
Can’t decide. Got an offer from SpaceX. It’s less pay and on-site and the real equity value is hard to calculate, but probably more fun and more stable than Coinbase (SpaceX kind has a monopoly on both satellite internet and cheap cargo rockets (self landing)) —————— UPDATE —————— Thanks for th...Read more

SpaceX crew dragon is done way faster, safer, and cheaper than Boeing. They develop innovative rockets like Falcon and Starship cheaper and faster than ULA. All the while, they pay less than big tech, work long hours, and don’t have benefits like free food. Blue Origin has way more money, was fou...Read more
