Moving to SF soon. A lot of my training regimen involves sprinting. Tracks open to the public that aren't too crowded to actually sprint on are damn near impossible to find in NYC. Are there any good ones in SF/Oakland?
My manager has one backend dev left under him after I leave this sprint. The team had 3 backend devs about a month ago. What happens next? There’s no way they’re going to find someone to do work at this rate (without a bunch of time consuming step by step training). Tc 100k
Been working with the open AI team for about 6 weeks now optimizing the parallel training in Azure. The culture there is amazing, they are moving so fast, are extremely determined, and are almost zealots about getting to AGI (throwing every idea at what could make that happen, trying it out, iterat...Read more
I cannot bring back the focus I had at work since coming back from the holidays. It's been 3 weeks and I haven't got anything done. I have no idea what excuse I'm gonna give in the standup tomorrow lol. It's been pretty chill, coworkers slowly coming back from their vacations, my dependencies being...Read more
Working with some talented designers coming from design agencies, I’m definitely feeling the imposter syndrome that I barely know how to run an effective workshop. The only workshop format I know is Google Design Sprint. I’m curious if there’s any good resource or books or course I can use. Any rec...Read more
This is my background: - 5 months in an IT support role (not a coding profile) - Joined a service-based company, there I spent 5 months in training + bench and then 1 Year in a project as a QA. (very less coding profile) So, I have 5 + 5 + 12 = 22 months of experience. Actually, I am looking to ...Read more
Would it be a bad idea to discuss with my manager about a promotion or applying internally? Would they let me get out of the new grad program? I started early July in the new grad analyst program but I quickly made it through onboarding and training and am now just another SWE on my team like every...Read more
My manager is not there to support any part of my career. He will be either quiet all the time or there will be complains. I am denied aws training of 2 days which could have helped me on learning and building a prototype using tools needed in our project. The 10% learning from training time exists ...Read more
I have relied on my apartment gym (pretty nice one) for a while. When they decided to close it, i picked up a 3 month at a club within walking distance of my apartment. Then that closed. I was obese much of my life, but have gotten into better shape 205 lbs and built a lot of muscle by having a g...Read more
Should I stay idle when there's no stories assigned for this sprint? I have not had much stories assigned since I joined about 4 months ago. I have identified a problem in the business and owned it. I can't go into detail but it requires maintainence and constant change to keep up with demand. I have documented, created training material, organized my own sprints, wrote AC, coordinated with designers, organized QA, and consistently del...Read more
I graduated with a PhD in physics and ML in 2020. Since then I have worked in startups. This is my third one. In the first two startups I was an ML engineer. Sprints planning/reports, daily standups, looking very closely if I slip sprint deliverables even a little bit. It was a never ending churn a...Read more

I am a mid level Software/ML Ops Engineer. In my previous company, I worked on a team that productionized ML models. They were heavily sprint based. The data scientists built the cool models and took ownership of solving the overall use case/problem. My interests have always leaned towards the alg...Read more
This is not a rant, just want to see if there are red flags I should be aware of and plan a move internally at G. Manager: >; When I take additional / side work (all relevant to the business) outside of my sprint tasks, during stand up, my manager will not add it to the sprint notes (he document
Sorry, going to be a somewhat long post. I'm an MLE with roughly 2.5 YoE after a physics PhD (with a sprinkle of ML). I'm leaving my job at my current startup just after 8 months. It's been quite stressful, everything is on fire all the time and pretty much everyone is working overtime regularly (a...Read more
I'm currently going through the process of asking for a job title change to more accurately reflect what I do and I'm facing pushback from my superiors because they see the title change as a "promotion". I want to show my superiors the results of this post as more 'evidence' that my responsibilities...Read more
I’m seeing heightened sentiment on Blind that product managers and “middle managers” are useless. Some specifically note that their alleged uselessness is a result of the MBA’fication of tech. I’m interested in peoples genuine, in-depth opinions on this concept. ——— I’ll share mine, if that’s alr...Read more
I'm applying for jobs and saw this one. It's hard to see for me whether this is L4 or L5. And I'm also confused why it's a product role but part of the Business Strategy & Operations organization - is this truly a PM role or an operation role? -------------------------------------------------------...Read more
