Plenty of time off and great health benefits if you’ve been with a company for a while and are grandfathered into the old benefits. Fantastic tuition benefit of $10k/year towards education.
Hiring internally is not based on skills or knowledge but on who you know and seems to be a popularity contest. CEO is completely detached from reality when it comes to sentiment of front line employees. High performers don’t really care about the culture of the company anymore so it’s not that shocking to see that the culture completely disintegrated. The layers of bureaucracy and inefficiency is appalling. I’m going to use the $10K tuition benefit to attend a live SANS training event, get my GPEN certification in February and then look somewhere else. Still amazes me that the company paid for my Bachelors, Masters, and a slew certifications to only have me go use the knowledge and skills I’ve gained at another company. They easily paid $50k for my education over the last 6 years to only have me look for employment elsewhere because of their internal hiring BS.

Does anyone know the hiring salary range for USAA in San Antonio for the IT Director position and the IT Manager - Sr. Level position? I’ve read some posts online their salaries tend to be lower because of the benefits they offer.
I have been interviewing with a lot of different companies and USAA is one of them. They offered a C2H role and I’m curious how contractors are treated there. Also if the contractors actually get converted at the end of the contract TC: 80k+ YOE: 2+ #engineering #software #swe #usaa
I'm debating multiple job offers. Let's assume typical analytics/data science job responsibilities for each company. The consulting company likely means more worse work/life balance, 10% higher pay, and possibly looks better on your resume. Is it worth choosing the consulting company? Other compa...Read more
I was approached by a recruiter with an insurance startup a couple months ago and wound up getting a PM offer. The base salary would be about 30k higher with the startup + a 40k equity bonus at 10k a year for 4 years. However, there's a lot of benefits at USAA that I wouldn't get at the startup like...Read more
