Comp can be nice, depending on the stock price. Pay increases are not great
Overtime expectations, terrible management. The culture encourages engineers to chase metrics rather than do actual work.
I learnt Uber hired another guy from Google in senior leadership position who was fired from Google for sexual harassment issue.
Do you know anyone who got fired? Any one significant or just scapegoats. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-06-06/uber-said-to-fire-more-than-20-employees-in-harassment-probe
Let the rest of us know so we don't hire them https://mobile.nytimes.com/2017/06/06/technology/uber-fired.html?referer=https://www.google.com/

With all the ethics and/or the harassment issues, are uber employees hireable at other organizations?
Under Dara's leadership, Uber seems to have done well and earned the respect back for Uber in these 2-3 years. In 2017, Uber was fuck*d up, to say the least under Travis with sexual harassments, bro culture, his recorded fights with Uber drivers etc. Was Travis really a jerk and failed leader?
One person anonymously tipped off board member Arianna Huffington — who is one of the people conducting a wider-ranging investigation into sexism and sexual harassment at the company — via an email that Baker had engaged in a sexual encounter with another employee. http://www.recode.net/2017/3/3/14...Read more

Keep it relevant. Is it price? Is it spite? A few people I know said they’d not use Uber because the way the company treats women and all the sexual harassments stuff which they read back in 2017... regardless how Uber has changed since.
https://www.usatoday.com/story/tech/news/2017/05/25/ubers-biggest-employee-problems-pay-and-pride-not-sexism-says-hr-boss/102075284/ Looks like pay and pride are the main issues. Sexual harassment is not.
First off, anyone who was laid off at Uber, I hope you find a good job soon. Uber doesn’t deserve your talents. -From your big bro upstairs at 1455. To everyone else hyping the sh*t out of Uber pre-Ipo. Shaking my head to you. All you saw on blind were posts of how Uber was “supreme”. The hottest...Read more
It seems TK has cancelled the appearance over ongoing investigation into sexual harassment case. It reminds me of our President not releasing his tax returns because of tax audit. https://www.recode.net/2017/5/1/15498026/uber-travis-kalanick-arianna-huffington-code-conference
Not bashing or criticizing, let's keep it civil. At Google and other companies I've worked at, things like the recent developments at Uber (harassment, sexism, CEO taking employees to a whorehouse, etc.) would cause major internal revolts and criticism. How are the rank-and-file employees at Uber r...Read more
If Uber is serious about investigation - has it reached out to all ex employees ? Did anyone reach out from Eric holders team to hear the stories of why employees left ? Or has Uber characterized everything as performance issues . Uber stole my benefits and is not returning it - I was subjected to h...Read more
At the risk of beating a dead horse, is Uber still a frat house filled with assholes or a professional place of business? Is sexual harassment/discrimination still a problem? I may be interviewing there (will find out soon), but I don't want to bother if it's still a toxic atmosphere. This is for ...Read more
Why do you want to work for Uber if they... 1) systematically underpay their drivers 2) don't listen to drivers unless they réally need to 3) had many allegations of discrimination and harassment 4) spied and stole all over the world 5) lied to governments and got in trouble in many countries while ...Read more
Blind had taken a survey here for all a month or so ago asking if we have experienced or witnessed sexual harassment at our own companies. Then they ranked the companies which had the most responses to the survey. The results are interesting. On an average they found 31% yes responses!!! Some of ...Read more
It's easy to criticize Uber in light of Susan Fowler's blog post. And they deserve every bit of that criticism. The incidents involved are so over the line, I don't think many companies will tolerate that kind if sexual harassment. But, ignore the sexual harassment and look at the other issues: HR t...Read more
