All I can say is ‘ouch’… hard to imagine sitting at your desk all day flipping between email tabs to see if you’ve been given the boot or not.
So I passed all Google interviews, team matching, HC, and now the Google recruiter sent me an email asking for my salary expectation. He expects a specific number. Is this normal? How should I respond? What would be the wording you would use? Looking for specific example responses #google #tech
I had an onsite interview with FB last week. Today recruiter reached out and asked for my availability for a phone call. Does it mean they are extending an offer? Does Facebook usually reject people over phone or via email?
Hi All, I am working for a company for 3~ years and want to leave. I was hired as a UX Designer, but gradually also started to be a product owner, a project manager, and a QA person. Basically, I am the only product professional in the team except my manager, who is a co-founder of the start-up an...Read more
In your experience, which of the two methods yield better results, negotiation over email or over phone ? In my case, I have had better luck negotiating over email as it removes the middle person (recruiter) out of the picture, as all the emails get sent to hiring manager through the recruiter. Yo...Read more
I'm in a position to reject an offer to sign another one. If I reject via email is there any thing bad that can come from that? Meaning, I know rejecting over the phone is better. But does that mean rejecting via email is bad, or just less good?

I had my last interview a week ago. My recruiter wrote to me asking when I got time for a phone call as he received my feedback. What has been your experience? Does Google reject via phone or via email?#engineering #software #swe

I was researching BPs for negotiating a job offer and saw a tech recruiter recommend initiating and carrying out negotiation via email. Has anyone been successful with this or do you recommend just doing it over the phone.
Leaving my (god awful) job for much greener pastures, only putting in two weeks because I have a decent relationship with my manager. To be honest, I just don’t find it necessary to print a letter of resignation and hand it to them in person. Plus, having it in writing before all else may eliminate ...Read more

Hey Scott I'm really sorry about what happened last night. I dunno what I was thinking. While it was both of our decisions to come back to my house, I take full responsibility because it was my house and I shouldn't have even given her the option to come over. I hope that you can forgive me and tha...Read more
I have L7 offers from Google and FB and working on negotiating. Should the negotiations be done over email so there is a paper trail, or is it better to do so over the phone? I'm confident to speak over the phone, but not a fan of the fact that people tend to be vague and it is not direct. Update: ...Read more
What is preferable to you? A rejection letter or a scheduled phone call for them to tell you you didn’t get the job? Does the phone call count as a high-touch recruiting experience? Not that they gave any feedback...
Does Square reject people directly through email or do they call to reject?

Had an on-site last week. I felt it went decent, not the best, but not bad at all, I gave it a good go. Emailed the recruiter last night to “just follow up”. They asked me if I’m available for a 30 min call to talk about it. Honestly idk for “sure” that it’s gonna be rejection, but I feel like you ...Read more
I received an email from the recruiter saying they want to make an offer and that she wants to chat with me. No numbers or any details given in the email. I'm guessing the chat is to do some "pre" negotiation? Is it acceptable to negotiate compensation numbers over email? Or should it be done live ...Read more
