Some smart people who have been here 4 or 5 years and are great to learn from. The engineering culture set by senior engineers is good but it's not supported by engineering management which is unfortunate. The new CEO lets people do their jobs and does not interrupt or embarrass them.
Engineering Managers are highly variable, some try and build careers for people and promote them while others have no idea how to manage people and treat them as disposable. Compensation is significantly below market and the retention bonuses for engineers are a joke. The VP of People has no idea how to manage people in a tech company despite the former CEO stressing how she was an A player at Netflix. During the recent company in person meeting, the VP of Engineering set policies different to the rest of the company but told his managers to not say it came from him which came out in the middle of a bar when attending a gathering of people who were not in engineering. Everyone is required to be oncall, including when pregnant. The last CEO would argue spelling with employees during their presentations to the company.

I used to think getting 5.3% guaranteed on Wealthfront with boost was amazing — but just realized you have to pay marginal taxes on these gains each year by filing a 1099-INT. This isn’t something stock holders deal with due to conservative long-term capital gains capped at ~10-20%. Given that, th...Read more
