Community Guidelines

At Blind, we hope to foster a diverse and transparent space that gives an equitable voice to every member of our community. In order to do this, we need to create an online space where every member can feel welcomed.

While we are a self-moderating community, we also have clear values that we want to uphold. Here are some common-sense guidelines that’ll help you steer away from trouble. Please use these guidelines as a reference for flagging posts to help create a healthier community on Blind.

Bullying / Harassment

We want you to use Blind without fear of being subjected to malicious harassment or threats. In cases where harassment crosses the line into a malicious attack, it should be flagged. In other cases where users may be mildly annoying, they should be ignored.

Harassment may include:

  • Abusive comments and messages
  • Deliberately posting content in order to humiliate or hurt someone
  • Making hurtful and negative comments about another person
  • Incitement to harass other users or creators
  • Sexual harassment, including sexualization of individuals or comments that will make other users on Blind feel uncomfortable

Discrimination / Hate Speech

We encourage free speech and believe in the right to express different views. However, we don't permit hate speech and discrimination. Hate speech refers to content that promotes violence against people or has the primary purpose of inciting hatred against individuals or groups based on certain attributes, such as race, ethnicity, religion, disability, gender, age, veteran status, sexual orientation or gender identity.

There is a clear line between what is and what is not considered to be hate speech. For example, it is generally accepted that it is okay to criticize a nation-state or hold a political opinion on issues like immigration. However, if the primary purpose of the content is to incite hatred against a group of people solely based on their ethnicity, or if the content promotes violence based on any of the above mentioned attributes, it violates our values.

Trolling

We enjoy and encourage playful jokes on Blind. We do not encourage trolling, which can include content that elicits negative responses from others, comments that don’t add value to a conversation, and comments that are repetitive.

Company Secrets

Some information related to companies are not meant to be shared publicly and we believe that it is up to the jurisdiction of company employees to properly manage this information through flagging.

Spam

We do not condone repetitive content on Blind. We also don’t condone content that is meant to promote or sell anything, including animals, products, and services.

Invasion of Privacy

We do not condone any attempts to guess at or reveal information about other users. Revealing someone’s personal information or other identifiable details is unacceptable.

Impersonation

Attempts to impersonate others, irregardless of the reason, is unacceptable behavior on Blind. Please help us flag content if you find others impersonating individuals.

Inappropriate Content

Pornography, explicitly sexual content, as well as content that may make others feel deeply uncomfortable are not acceptable.

Topic Relevance

Content should be posted in relevant channels based on topic. Any post that is not in the appropriate channel can be flagged.
