Kenyan education technology startup, Kidato has raised $1.4 million in a seed round. The investors who participated in the round include Learn Start Capital, Launch Africa Ventures Fund, Graph Ventures and Century Oak Capital. Angel investors also participated in the raise, according to the startup.

Iyin Aboyeji, the co-founder of investment platform Future Africa, has expressed dismay at the fact that most of the infrastructure for Nollywood is located in Lagos. The serial founder and entrepreneur made his feelings known during an intense panel session at NECLive8, the biggest gathering of Nigerian entertainment practitioners, which was held today.

"Our initial strategy was to identify high-potential talent on the African continent, train them in software development and then place them as full-time distributed engineers. We saw an opportunity to build a business while investing in talent creation across Africa, and that's exactly what we did," said Jeremy Johnson, co-founder and CEO of Andela when the company pivoted from training junior talent development to recruiting senior talent.
