- Why is Samsung tone deaf Samsung and Apple are both big corporations. Yet somehow Apple seems more relatable with human-scale concepts and named figureheads. I have a Galaxy phone so I'm far from an Apple fanboy. But yet any of the Galaxy marketing staff has always struck me as inhuman. Perhaps this is simply because they'r
- Is strategy bs? I keep finding myself in roles where I’m tasked with big picture, anticipatory, cross-functional thinking and planning from a human-centered perspective. Even in-house. Is this skill set useful? Helping teams come up with a vision? Or should I try to find a more product focused role like UX research
- Coinbase Recuriting Sucks! Stay Away! Submitted an application for one position at Coinbase yesteray. Today got an email from their auto-reply system saying that they are moving forward with other more experienced candidates. My application seems to be filtered out by a robot not by a real human. I have 5 YOE and have a few yrs of wor
- Breaking into Legal Tech How does one break into legal tech in NYC without big law? I’m barred in NY. After law school, I worked in-house at a small company in NYC for low pay. Six months later, I founded a legal tech company. A few years later, I said bump the low pay and non-human hours and started clerking for the feds.
- vote Elon Musk a Genius or a Scam Genius Elon has been able to create a good narrative for himself. Founding PayPal when he clearly had nothing to do with their success. Founding Tesla when he cheated people out of the board. Selling Smokes to the public everytime to hype up the value of his share. He always finds some BS to promote everyt
- What’s a role that does both design + engineering? I’ve been super duper interested in human computer interaction for ages. Due to needing a green card, I took the first few available roles. However, I know what passion feels like and this is not it. I’m happiest when I’m brainstorming, designing shit, coding something until it looks and feels a ce
- Instagram culture (Product Designer role) I’m being offered a role at Instagram in London (first IG team in london) as a Product Designer. It will be 1 manager and 3 IC. I’ve read all sort of horror stories about work life balance being non existant at Instagram, people working at night and weekends and people getting fired if they don’t p
- Which companies can beat this TC 400k? 20 years experience Staff 2 / Backend Software Architect Good experience in using big data systems to design applications Been somewhat happy with work and has decent WLB but it seems pay may have fallen significantly short of market since pandemic and technical path feels like no longer respected
- link What do you think of Elon's five step algorithm https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/5-step-org-process-elon-musk-swears-spacex-tesla-vinayak-jhunjhunwala/ Step 1: Make your requirements less dumb It doesn’t matter who gave it to you. It’s even more perilous if an intelligent person gave the requirements to you; you might not question them enough. Eve
- MSFT, GOOG, AAPL, META, NFLX, SNAP etc… Let stonks be stonks and live life while you are alive! Steve jobs died a billionaire at 56 years old and this was some of his last words. I reached the pinnacle of success in the business world. In some others’ eyes, my life is the epitome of success. However, aside from work, I have little joy.

- So many rejections in initial call/behaviour, don't know what to do I have been interviewing for a few weeks due to layoff. My current situation is: - Companies applied: 45 (all non faang or big names) - Initial call with recruiter or HM: 15 - Onsites: 6 I have a very high rejection rate in recruiter calls. I don't know what it is that makes me look/sound like a no
- Shitty Amazon culture affects high performers too There are lots of shitty humans in Amazon that we all already know of. I wanted to bring a point that this PiP thing doesn’t only affect low performers but voids high performers too of what they deserve if they’re not careful or if they get to work with people who are ready with a knife to backstab

- Don’t join AWS!!!!!!! I joined aws 1.5 years back. All the stories you hear are all true. I thought it would be different for me, no it isn’t. Very bad wlb, sickness, stress what not. Keep working at that small company, there are other companies with good wlb, don’t come here. Dont be the human who says we’ll see for ou

- Are FAANG employees overrated? Blind has opened my eyes. As a kid I thought big tech engineers would be smart, mature, rational, and professional. Coming here has helped me realize that it's really not the case, trolling aside. Not that I ever thought being an engineer was a pinnacle of human achievement or anything close.
- vote I feel so little in this large world I feel the world is so big. So much to do, and I'm only one person. Elon musk is out there building electric cars and trying to bring humanity to Mars, and here I am struggling just to solve Easy LeetCode Questions. TC 130k.
- Depressed New Grad at Amazon I know I will get a lot of flak for writing this but this thing is hurting me a lot and hence I am trying to seek help. So most of my friends interned this summer at big firms like Google, FB , Stripe and other big firms while I unfortunately could only end up at Amazon (yes the bar is low). And n
- vote PDF vs Word while applying for Jobs? Hi blinders, please suggest which fornat is better for applying jobs across all portals. So many big companies have ATS even before a human looks at files, so please suggest me better practices in resume format. Thanks in advance! #hiring #recruiting
- ever feel lost? just bouncing from one project to another, never really knowing enough. bank account gets big but feel like wasting youth for deadlines that arent really helping humanity
- FAANG’s contribution to Humanity Was googling/debating what core value FAANG offered to humanity vis-a-vis American companies/innovation during Industrial revolution or post WW2. Came up with these ranks and reasoning. Would love to hear your opinion. ( Value offered by ‘original’ product/idea and not as an aftermath of being bi
- So upset - have made three final rounds and no offers So upsetting. 10 years of experience in human capital/digital transformation consulting at big four, and have been trying to transition to tech. Mainly BizOps, functional tech or customer success roles at FANG or other big tech company. I’ve made three final rounds: 1 role was put on hold, 1 I lost
- Should I send second follow up email? Recently I had a talk with a recruiter and we scheduled the next interview but she didn’t back to me, it has been a month now. I am planning to send another follow-up email. Honestly thinking she maybe got some flu or corona but not sure (this might sound so funny thou) or some humans are not human
- Did your attitude change once you started making "big money"? Especially for all you people who "moved to the big city and started making fat TC": Does it ever disgust you when you reflect that you basically turned into one of those "rich greedy successful big city assholes" that you saw on TV who made big bank and treated human beings like shit? Asking for
- Apple is dragging everyone down today Just another WTF moment for me. Single, though big, company affects entire sp500 i.e other 499 companies. What kind of thinking is that unless robots, not humans, drive the market nowadays.
- What is the coolest project you’ve worked on? A lot of posts on Blind focus on TC, career advancement, etc. We often forget that a big part of working in tech is building novel technologies that meaningfully advance humanity. What projects in your career so far are you most proud of / do you think are the coolest? L6 SWE TC 450K
- Why is there no candidate for the tech industry? Both the right and left want to save manufacturing and/or break up “big tech”. That’s unrealistic. The ML revolution is inevitable and will wipe out human-run industries. Only a fraction of the people will be needed to run the economy. Our current government and economics will break down.
