Crunchyroll has a devoted fan base. Anime content is fun to work with and easy to promote. Many of the people that work at Crunchyroll are anime fans and are passionate about working there.
Morale is low. Crunchyroll is no longer a safe place to ask meaningful questions or be an authentic person. Executive-level employees seem to lack basic self-awareness and do not hold themselves accountable for any failures. When things go wrong, the default is disparagement and blame-seeking instead of helping, encouraging, or supporting their teams. Typical comments are “we don’t have the people with the right skills here," or "It's frustrating how they don't seem to get it." Favoritism: Unfortunately, the new norm Is a caste system between people that senior-level executives hold in high esteem, the "Brahmins" versus the "Untouchables." whose sole purpose is to do what they are told and like it. This plays out by the inconsistent amount of support different people get based on where they fall in the pecking order.
