The first Lebanon-made electric vehicle was debuted on Saturday by Lebanese-born Palestinian businessman Jihad Mohammad, who unveiled the Quds Rise battery-powered sportscar in a parking lot south of the country's capital of Beirut.

WEST HARTFORD, CT - Hartford County's first Eco-Friendly Modern Ride Service made it maiden voyages in West Hartford Thursday. The company is called Electra and it has the only full zero-emission vehicle fleet in Hartford County. It is based in West Hartford.

Over the past 30 years, the share of global semiconductor manufacturing capacity in the U.S. has dropped from 37 percent to 12 percent, according to the Semiconductor Industry Association. In light of the global semiconductor shortage, however, the U.S. is becoming more aware of the need to strengthen its chip manufacturing ecosystem.

West Hartford rideshare startup Electra Technologies, which will only use zero-emission vehicles, is offering free rides starting today until the end of the month, when it will officially launch. The company's fleet currently consists of two Teslas, co-founder Kyle Bryan said Thursday morning, but Electra is in talks with investors to buy more all electric cars.
