- Shadow hierarchy. Every Director has a Korean shadow manager who channels the information exchange between the regional offices and the Korean HQ. - Lack of transparency. HQ doesn’t share most of the info. Regions are kept in the dark and are treated as external third parties. - Top managers lack basic knowledge on the trends that are disrupting the automotive industry. - All important decision-making is done in Korea, with Korean customers in mind. Very little regard on the needs of customers from ‘overseas regions’. - Impossible to make an impact in the regional offices. Regional office merely provide recommendations to the global HQ, recommendations which most of the time are ignored.
