India's air transport bubble with Germany has been suspended after the European country prohibited national carrier Air India from flying to its airports, a senior government official told The Indian Express. The ban succeeded the Indian side asking Lufthansa to curtail its schedule, which led to the airline cancelling its flights to India till October 20.

Lufthansa unit Swiss International Air Lines plans to cut roughly 1,000 jobs over the next two years through voluntary measures rather than layoffs, its outgoing Chief Executive Thomas Kluehr said in remarks published on Saturday.

Deutsche Lufthansa, which previously announced plans to retire over 150 aircraft including its A380 superjumbo fleet, said that its flagship going forward will be the Boeing 747, specifically the 747-8 Intercontinental.
