“Lack of Sales Compensation & Operations”

ConsAlmost half of the strategic sales team has
left including a leader, mostly due to lack of sales opportunities and our compensation model

Candidates reject offers internally and externally but the leadership team thinks it’s fair market. Seems weird when we’re trying to ramp up growth

Plaid pays 50% less in sales commission when selling to existing customers when most sales organizations pay the same payout to incentivize growth. Very concerning that an 80% margin co can’t comp our sales team more to ramp up the growth engine. They make it hard to make $ in other ways.

Sales team wastes a ton of time / money with not even knowing who we should be selling to. Bizops provides sales reps territories that are irrelevant to plaids use cases and value propositions

While we try to defend our valuation, like
most growth oriented companies, I’d suggest investing more into our sales ops and not underpay sales talent by 30-50% - they’re going to continue to leave - and the product doesn’t just sell itself.

Solution:

- Build better territories
- Pay sales people more ( you’re out of market ), both in commissions and in base
- Sales people will be happier and will sell more
- And we will grow faster
