“Work life balance really the only thing going for it”
ProsEasy going and low pressure environment. Lots of incentives to be active outdoors with active community. Work dynamic is dependent on what team you are on.
ConsLow pay vs. market. Any socially responsible priorities of the past, like Opt Outside, are now only marketing levers to drive new member acquisition. There is little to no growth opportunities if you are an individual contributor. During my time I stayed in the same role for 3 years while a VP that was there for less time was promoted to EVP for some reason.
REI leaders are anti union which really paints the company's social responsibility initiatives as an obvious facade.
The culture has shifted since going remote as well. No fault of anyone but now there's really no reason to take a pay cut if you can make almost 40% more at another company that's also remote.

- REI Finance I’m curious about the culture in REI corporate, particularly finance. Does anyone have thoughts they can share?
- REI Employee transportation benefits? Hi All, I am wondering if REI offers any kind of shuttle transportation to their headquarters for full-time employees? Asking for a friend who is interested in applying to one of their corporate jobs.
- REI adventure tours Has anybody took any of their tours? What is your experience like?
