“Good work life balance (mostly), average pay, degrading culture”
Pros* Good flexibility with last minute off days, different schedules, etc
* Good co-workers, everyone is incredibly friendly, respectful, and cares about the product
* Working with musicians/on music products
* Ideal place to start a career: great intern program, friendly engineers happy to teach newcomers, potential help paying for part of your masters degree
* Ideal place to work while supporting a family or nearing retirement: good job security, retirement benefits, and again work-life flexibility
* Company growing rapidly
Cons* The once famous Shure culture of a business run conservatively to ensure quality products and respect for employees feels like its quickly slipping away
* Politics and favoritism becomes clear as you move up ranks
* Pay (specifically regarding software engineering) is average to subpar compared to the industry, though again, work life balance is some of that pay
* Company growing rapidly
* Upper management doesn't respect sprints/will often mess up a pre made plan to push their own priority for themselves
* Large changes happening with little input from non-managerial types
