“Mission is the main reason for working here.”
ProsYou see how the work you do directly helps entrepreneurs, who are working their asses off to make their businesses successful.
ConsExtreme misalignment in values from C-suite. Staff not made to feel valued. Almost 70% attrition since new CEO joined. Everyone new feels lost and is scrambling to figure out what to do with no strategy or direction from above. Growth at all costs with no plan on how to execute that efficiently and without burning out staff. Completely different company pre-2021 and today. Old leadership (founders) took the time and effort to make staff feel valued. New leadership couldn't care less what your name is or "what you do here." Expect to sit in your home office most days feeling lost and disconnected, and don't expect to feel any camaraderie with your "teammates," who are generally very smart and driven but also equally overwhelmed by the environment. Techstars is a 16 year old company in classic startup disarray, and there's no excuse for letting this happen other than CEO mismanagement.
