- kind working team… genuine and authentic - incredibly smart and thoughtful people at all levels, on most teams - interesting opportunity space with tangible problems to solve and high potential for innovation - thoughtful focus on customers/users on most teams, with more and more company investment in how to do this effectively - recent investments in strategically aligning the organization and creating clarity in operations to support initiatives are beginning to help
Executives and senior leaders are terrible at investing in, growing and empowering the leaders under them, rather than holding them accountable and valuing their expertise and insights, they tend to bottleneck, micromanage and ignore the smart and thoughtful people they have hired. This has a three fold effect of eroding confidence in leadership overall, alienating working teams, and causing a culture of distrust, speculation and poor communication. Because everyone is “so nice”, and leadership is taking the tactic of micromanaging, a lot of things that could be worked through are left unsaid, and candor is absent at all levels. If Lyft can rightsize the above, by working with their leaders rather than around them; and investing in more leaders that are held accountable to contribute, drive, communicate and deliver …it will absolutely find itself on the right path.
not sure why they’re hiring, can anyone recently accepted an offer or been hired since layoffs give insight? is their offer way lower than normal?
I liked the work I'd be working on at Lyft and I'm bored of my current work at MS. Current TC: 250K

I see lots of Indians driving uber and lyft. I dont think all of them have legal authorization to do so. Is it even legal ? Once I was picked by a Student from Hyderabad who was driving for someone else !! Big safety concern for me. Update : tagged uber and lyft
https://www.google.com/amp/s/seekingalpha.com/amp/news/3557406-lyft-hires-senior-waymo-engineer Surprising... for one, Sasha can't be cheap unless Sasha is joining Lyft for non-$ motivation and two, why is Lyft L5 so committed to doing self-driving alone? How about perfect the craft of ride-sharin...Read more

Curious if one can think of working at Lyft long term, or if Google is the ideal place for that. What additional factors should one think about? Is Lyft where Google was 10 years ago, and is ripe with possibilities and opportunities? Or is Google still a safe bet for growing one's career?
I appreciate that Lyft is adding features that make riders feel safe, but the execution is poorly done to lump women and non-binary into one category . Here are my thoughts : 1. Non-binary is neither identifies as male or female, so it’s unfair to lump them into a women+ category 2. Does this incl...Read more

Can you believe Uber has paid $186 million to fight CA than to help drivers? That says it all. Why can’t Uber and lyft pay fair wages and give drivers a safety net instead of being a big baby saying they’ll leave? Uber and lyft don’t care about you. They would rather leave California than to lose so...Read more

What is the better career move if long term i am interested in creating production ML algos? This is what RS do at Lyft, while Google DS do metrics and experimentation. But Google is a better brand, more data, safe, likely better WLB (though Lyft seems goos as well), and more teams to move around in...Read more
I haven't seen Lyft making any big product innovation in the past 5 years. 1. Ride share experience remains unchanged. Their Lyft Line and safety features are Uber copycats. 2. Bicycles and scooters don't count because that was through acquisition. 3. Let's be honest. No one uses Lyft to look up ...Read more

I see here on blind that many people switch jobs regularly (every 3-4 years, sometimes even less), to have that big TC. But are there people on h1b who do similar jumps?
