The comp packages and benefits are great, as you would expect.
No work-life balance here. But with so many younger employees who are hungry and have minor life-commitments (no kids, can work long hours and/or at night), if you don't fit your manager's expectation of their ideal employee, expect nothing from them. 4 managers in 4 years here and this has been my observation with each.
Hi friends. How's apples kernel/os org? How's the work life balance there? There are many negative comments on blind here but mostly org dependent. Thanks!
What kind of work can be expected for Kernel software engineer at Apple - Will it be more bug fixing/code refactoring and less feature development ?
I have an upcoming 'virtual onsite' at Apple for one of the kernel engineering roles. I have cleared two technical screening rounds, and the recruiter has informed me that they are moving to the next stage. I am looking for a mock interview or some guidance. Is there anyone who can help with it? As...Read more
I had a manager reach out to me about interviewing for a Kernel QA team in the CoreOS org in Cupertino. I was hoping to get some insight on this team, the work I’d be doing, and how I might prepare for the interviews. I’m a new grad(Embedded Systems) with ~3 years of internships. I think I’m more ...Read more
I have an opportunity to join an apple kernel group. Was wondering if anyone could give their informed experience about work/life balance. When is crunch time usually? I have a family and I need to take vacation during the summertime.
I have offers from the above 2 teams and need to make a decision soon. Anyone has any background on these teams? I'm looking for a role that has good learning opportunities and decent work life balance. I already have kernel development background but camera stack will be new for me. Also is the co...Read more
Can any Engineers chime in on what is being looked for? What should I focus on studying, what should I ignore, is Linux a taboo word? Does Apple care about open source contributions to Linux projects? What’s the LC bar like? #apple #interview
#apple What was interview like? Hows wlb? Hows TC
Hi Folks, Anyone has any pointers for interviews in Kernel Testing domains at Apple? What are the potential topics for an onsite interview. Appreciate the help.
Apple: TC: 200K (ICT3) (base+RSU+bonus) Location: San Diego Vmware TC: 190K (MTS-2) (base+RSU+bonus) Location: Palo Alto Vmware team(ESXi VMkernel team), looks more interesting to me when compared to Apple's team. I really wanted to work on core kernel, but not sure if it is worth rejecting App...Read more
I am a new grad with offers at both nvidia and apple. They’re both similar in TC but nvidia has a higher base salary with less sign on/RSU. The apple position is working on iOS/MacOS kernel and user programs and Nvidia is on the deep learning library team. Which would be better to take if my end goa...Read more

Hi people with more knowledge, please pass said knowledge onto a student and help me out. I must choose one for summer. I don’t like (returning to) Amazon because politics, lack of helpful/not toxic coworkers, disassociated/disengaged manager, scope scabbing, pitting interns against each other, ind...Read more
I interviewed with two “different” teams at Apple and both teams want to give an offer now, one is San Diego based and the other is in Austin. Both are related to embedded SW but I like the position in Austin more as it aligns with my career growth. The San Diego position is also Embedded related bu...Read more
I've only heard good things about this org. Anyone works there to pitch in on the culture? WLB? Career growth/TC progression? Thanks! Specifically for Darwin and kernel teams. #apple
What teams at #Apple focus on the work that deals with hardware/sensors but not purely on the kernel/driver layer nor at the user app/service level but rather somewhere in between? HID perhaps but they seem to involve kernel/driver work based on the description. #tech
