Comp can be nice, depending on the stock price. Pay increases are not great
Overtime expectations, terrible management. The culture encourages engineers to chase metrics rather than do actual work.
Initial comp was great; refreshes are harder to get and you have no leverage
Very fragmented; too many product areas; lots of bureaucracy.

However google is google at the end of day and so many potentially interesting projects inside. Also personally...Read more

So I have an offer from Google for Staff SWE, same level that I have at Uber. I am leaning towards not taking it, given Uber is doing well as a company (my tc has shot up due to stock appreciation) and that I have a shot for promotion to Sr Staff next year. Numbers Current TC at Uber: 705K Offer TC...Read more

I have offers from both. Uber is for 5a while Google is 4. Assuming pay is similar after negotiations, which do you guys think is the best choice? These are my pros and cons: Uber - free promotion, probably higher tc and more upside, more impact in terms of work Google - better commute and wlb, bett...Read more

Hi All, have to decide between 2 offers. Not adding a poll, as I find it less relevant, instead looking for insights, specially from folks who have worked with either or both. I have always wanted to work with Google, but Uber comp is too high to ignore, hence the dilemma. Things that are important ...Read more
