No doubt, the exploration, the hardware, the scientific wonder, there's only one place like this. The rank and file are some of the brightest minds, they have passion and they love the community and love to help. There is a sense of we're in this together, and it is uplifting.
Management is slowly transforming this into just another tech operation. Metrics aren't shared, decisions are made based on in-transparent data in a top-down mindset. Proclamations of we are a family, all-the-while there's little room for growth in entrenched structures, subpar compensation, and now the reality of layoffs due to government shutdowns. IC's passions for their projects are ruthlessly exploited, because where else will they go to work on these challenges. The shine is wearing off, and there's a long way to go to recapture what used to inspire us.

I am almost sure that I already had made my mind. I just want to be sure I pick some other experienced people brains here. First of all, this would be an offer with a subcontractor of a contractor at NASA. While I was expecting a pay cut (they offered less than half of what I am making), they also ...Read more

I’m a freshman CS major and just got an offer from NASA to be on their ML special projects team. Does FAANG like NASA on a resume or is just another government job? It’s better than the other company that I already accepted an offer for. Tips on how to renege?
I’m accepting an offer at NASA, but I already commit to a different (not so large) company in November. Small company pays more, but NASA is NASA and it will be really good experience (and for my resume😋) + NASA has a cooler project involving AI. How should I renege the small company? Should I tel...Read more

I am considering declining an offer after I have already accepted it and let them do my background check. I am concerned that when I decline they may contact my current employer (not NASA) and tip them off that I signed another offer letter. Is this a legitimate concern or am I overthinking this? #h...Read more

I've been working in Ads at Amazon for 6 months and can't stand it. I feel I am contributing nothing of value to humanity. Every day is grueling and I have trouble motivating myself to work when I know the end product is hated by every user of the app. Who actually likes to see ads? I received a jo...Read more

My friend is a global icpc finalist, who went to multiple competitions to NASA, he would destroy any coding interview, but he just wasted his time until he would " feel like getting a good job". I'd love to dedicate my career into helping humanity to reach other planets, at least as much as my lifespan allows it. Given my nationality, my plan is to prepare to get a great offer from a FAANG, so that my stay in the USA is as great as possible while I get the green card/citizenship. What do ...Read more
