I use a lot of fidelity for my brokerage account, crypto, short and long plays. This year has been particularly good and I don't want to be caught by surprise next April. How do we check the amount of taxes we owed, both short and long gains. I am also going to dump some losses if needed for this ye...Read more
Hi Guys Has anyone tried Fidelity's tax harvest investing strategy? Lately, I got a call from Fidelity and they're promoting this "tax harvest management". Basically, this is what they're proposing. - they try to track the S&P500 index. - when the overall market deeps, they'll harvest the loss t...Read more
I've moved to US on L1B visa. I am confused if I should be completing W-8BEN or W-9. Could you please point me to some resources that could solve the doubt? I've come from India. I'm on US payroll. Fidelity displays this on the portal. "Based on the information you have provided, you appear to be a...Read more
My fidelity accounts tax activity section only shows the dividends I received as taxable income. All realized gain are not considered taxable. Why is that? I used TurboTax default feature to connect to fidelity to calculate my tax return and now am worried that my tax return probably was not accurat...Read more
Hello - for FY 2024, I contributed $8000 to Traditional IRA, and then from Traditional IRA to Roth IRA (as part of backdoor IRA) on fidelity platform .. however, i see an interest of $1.09 deposited into the Traditional IRA since Fidelity invests into SPAXX money market.. so the total amount in m...Read more
A fidelity advisor suggested that Fidelity Tax Managed account with an expense ratio of 0.4 that tracks the returns is S&P500 is much better suited than a traditional S&P500 ETF like VOO which has an expense ratio like 0.03. I was told that the tax savings would more than make up for the higher expe...Read more
I am en ex-employee of Fidelity. Where can I find my tax documents (W2) ? I tried to reach out to HR via email twice. Haven't heard back from them yet. I haven't received them in my mail. It will be really helpful if someone could help.
I am making both after tax (with roth rollover) and pretax contributions to my fidelity 401k. I see a single balance for all my contributions. How does it separate tax free and taxed capital gains in future? Even dividends are being reinvested in the combined account. Is there a way to see what part...Read more
Might be a basic question, but I can’t find the answer by just googling: Do I need to pay stock dividends taxes during tax return or does Fidelity withdraw it automatically?
My GF's company has only fidelity option for 401k. Is it possible to directly send pre tax 401k to vanguard? If no, can I move pre tax 401k money from fidelity to vanguard ?
When my RSUs vested, I sold to cover the taxes. Now, my W2 shows the value of all my new RSUs (box 14) and it doesn’t seem to give me credit for the RSUs I sold (taxes to cover that income). My withholding on the W2 doesn’t reflect the RSUs I sold to cover (money I basically never got). But, when ...Read more
Does importing all investments from Fidelity into TurboTax actually work? Does anyone have any experience with this or any tips thank you TC 300k
I recently had a conversation with the Fidelity investment advisor team. They discussed Fidelity's professionally managed tax-advantaged account with 0.5% commission fee. which involves market investments and year-end tax harvesting. The returns appear comparable to SPYETF with added tax advantages....Read more
has anyone used this SMA? is it worth the fee? annual fee is 0.65% for 100k. I have about 140k looking for some investment options. I am not used to stocks/trading so I would avoid managing my portfolios myself. any recommendations? thanks
Had a stock grant in November, and 5 RSUs were sold for taxes. I’m told both the income and withholding are reflected in my W2. So why has Fidelity issued a 1099b with only the sale amount? There’s nothing on there about the withholding towards taxes, so it looks like I made an additional 17k. If it...Read more
I know I should probably ask fidelity this, but thought I'd ask the blind community first: Fidelity gives me the ability to transfer my taxable individual account (with only my Amazon stock vests in it) to a Roth IRA directly up to $6000 a year. Can you do it? I saw the option to do in-plan conversion, which means AT 401k will be converted to Roth 401k automatically. But to IRA? I know you can call fidelity every paycheck to tell them to do it, but I’m just too lazy to do that.
Blinders, Noob here with Backdoor Roth, let me know if this is a viable option for converting post tax amount of 6K as Roth IRA rollover. I am not eligible to contribute directly to a ROTH ira account 1) transfer (post tax) 6K from a savings account to traditional IRA account(Fidelity) 2) open Rot...Read more
I contribute to both pre tax and post tax 401K. Same asset, example SPY, is purchased using both contributions. I wanna tell how many SPY units are pre tax VS post tax ? Is there a way to tell ? Fidelity just shows the total amount.
