There is still amazing people to work with and very interesting projects. However, budget in projects is very dull and depends how well the project leads convince management for a chunk of the cake. The company offers great benefits (healthcare, etc).
Politics and poor execution are killing the company. Too many people likes to talk and present slides. Minimal budget is hard to achieve for a project. In research we don’t have access to any hardware for doing AI, and we don’t have access to data. Barely any travel is allowed and the company is reluctant to progress and AI. Old management that is not open to listen or to progress. Too much investment is going to factories that are just losing money. Stock bonuses are down by 40% in the past three years, heavily reducing TC. The bonuses given are also shrinking by the same amount such as the company is paying less with the expectation that stock will rise. The opposite is happening.
Received an offer from intel accepted it but now Received 2 more offer from competitors with higher base pay? Is it possible to negotiate again? TC hike offered by intel: 40% TC hike offer by competitor: 50% and 60% Current TC: ₹2300k
Asking for a friend who was at Intel, left the company, and now wants to join again. Have heard that rejoining is frowned upon at Intel, esp. if you left for competitors. Is that true?
Expecting an offer from Intel Munich. Likely g7 or g6 in a SW team. How much should I expect for both levels ? TC: 150k (USA HCOL). Currently working at an Intel competitor. Yoe - 5 #hardware #interview #semiconductor
Does anyone know about work culture at Intel AI group of Nervana? Stressful or not? How does it compare to AI work at other competitors or Facebook?
Soon to receive an offer from AMD. In G6 at Intel and negotiating a MTS position. Does AMD ask for references from peers and supervisors? My feeling is they won’t ask Intel and AMD are direct competitors. Want to know experience of folks who jumped ship. #amd #intel
How often if at all do companies send spies to competitors and what does it look like when they do it? What strategies would they use if doing this? Would they send people over to gather intel or to disrupt processes?
It seems like they’re also emphasizing that the “compa ratio” is more in like to competitors.(I assume NVIDIA, Intel, apple) What I hate about these “compa ratios” is that they don’t include the value of RSU/refreshers at all. NVIDIA is paying (probably) similar base as AMD, but with 10x the RSU’s....Read more
I’m currently involved in work related to the CHIPS Act, and my interactions with various industry insiders have led me to a stark realization: Nvidia is facing a turbulent future. Reasons: 1. China’s Rapid Advancements: Among all people from different companies I interact with, it’s no doubt that...Read more
There is a huge gap in pay between FAANG, unicorns that recruit from FAANG, and everybody else. At the same time, so so many people want to work for FAANG that they have to reject many good engineers. Therefore I see a discontinuity in the supply and demand of labor for FAANG and yet these companies...Read more
Disclaimer that I know very little about the hardware industry so a lot of this will probably sound stupid as fuck. I'm basing this on a few tenuous at best assumptions: 1. ARM is the future and x86 will die a slow death. 2. China might invade or blockade TW, making chip supply from TSMC unstable o...Read more
many tech companies, although they solve real people's problems, do not deserve the recognition. For example, Uber, Netflix, Airbnb, Meta etc They solve one problem really well but they just pay high TC because they have the monopoly in that business and charge a lot of people money. Real tech com...Read more

Hi all, I’m a long term stock research enthusiast and have been following the last few earnings calls from tech companies. The way Amazon used their Rivian investment to overreport their earnings per share as ~$27 instead of ~$4 pumping up their stock to $3250 in Jan-Feb looked like a great selling ...Read more
I don't think the wave of layoffs, Musk being a total idiot at Twitter and a bunch of profitable tech companies letting staff go are all a coincidence. At the same time. In the past years with COVID: - people were able to work just fine from home - many people fled the VHCOL ->; not being wage sla
