Unlimited PTO Great work life balance Remote Company paid offsites twice per year
Tons of politics, resulting in overly competitive toxic teammates. I heard slack had good culture, but maybe not anymore. Senior leadership does not give proper support nor listen to anyone other than C suite. Really top down feel.
Does slack have any serious competition ? I’m going through it’s S1 filing and they are talking about competition as risk. How about Microsoft teams ? Discord ? Chime ? Anyone has potential to give slack some run for the money ?
Despite seemingly similar features, companies frequently use both. Team’s growth has not slowed or taken Slack’s customers from what I see. It seems they both attempt to solve different use cases. I might be wrong.
Microsoft Teams is making fast inroads as a competitor to Slack. Anyone see a future for Yammer?
Currently work 2 jobs in VHCOL. J1(Google) requires 3 days RTO and J2 is fully remote. I have to be online during meetings for J2 but I also have to be in office on certain days. My schedule has conflicts in that I will be doing other company work in-office. What are the odds that J1 will notice J2 ...Read more
Every tech company I’ve ever sold at our biggest competitor was Microsoft, whether it’s collaboration, analytics, CRM, content management,….I’m at slack and we’re getting crushed by Teams. I’m talking to a friend at Databricks (which I thought was relatively safe) and he’s saying there’s starting to...Read more
Speaking for a friend on this one. The CEO pays Canadians shit and micromanages employees on Slack (imagine a CEO shitting on individual engineers on Slack... That is reality of Shopify). During company all hands whenever he is called out for Shopify having 1/2 the compensation of Amazon or other c...Read more

http://qz.com/825617/slack-vs-microsoft-teams-slack-took-out-a-full-page-ad-in-the-new-york-times-to-welcome-its-new-competitor/ I would be encouraged by this if I were Microsoft.
Use to be a die-hard fan, and now just a fan. However, how did they miss the boat on security cameras. Seems in their wheelhouse to come up with a ring competitor with lidar. Tim Apple is slacking, as well as the company.
I’m a bit perplexed by the Loom deal. It’s not a video conferencing tool like Zoom, which would have made more sense. Heck, even messaging collaboration tools like Slack would have been interesting (good move by Salesforce). What types of businesses or even specific startups would you recommend Atl...Read more
Microsoft Teams? Everyone thought it might be Slack competitor but MSFT is only interested with Office 365 Suite? Why? They should release as a consumer product as well. It will be really great if they do. PS : I like MS Teams so far.
Hi Blinders, There is news that Salesforce is in ADVANCED talks to acquire informatica and only the hook holding is the stock sale price. If this goes through, what are the possibilities of layoffs ? How salesforce dealt with acquisitions earlier when they acquired slack , tableau and mulesoft ? Do...Read more
Constant, silent layoffs. Morale has plummeted to the ground. It feels like execs are shaving the fat off the company with no future plan in sight. None of the higher ups care about engineering, they only care about sales and slapping lipstick on broken products. Every few weeks people disappea...Read more

Worked at Microsoft, Amazon, and Zillow. By far the company with the better internal or productivity tools is Zillow. I think the reasons are 1) Zillow don’t waste time trying to build internal tools, 2) they are not limited by using/dogfooding their own tools created or avoiding competitor tools. ...Read more

Just realized my manager isn’t that technical, as in has not coded in a decade, has not contributed to design review documents in ages etc but has managed not to get fired because he knows how to bullshit his way out. Also he applies some shady tactics so folks don’t get ahead of him - doesn’t invi...Read more
