Initial comp was great; refreshes are harder to get and you have no leverage
Very fragmented; too many product areas; lots of bureaucracy.
Anyone work on AR/VR at Google? Is it interesting? Do you think it will be able to compete with Meta/Apple/Microsoft/Snap? #arvr #google TC $365k

Looking for info about AR/VR roles at google specifically in hardware division
I’m just curious because I have heard no news about it. I know apple is getting in the game and obviously meta is trying. But this seems right up googles alley too. I know google glass “flopped” did that sour google to pursuing AR?
I don't see any rumors or news about Google building a AR/VR hardware product or even an android equivalent for it. Anyone know why? Or they actually building?
Hi 👋 Any Google designers have experience switching over to VR/AR interaction design? I’m in talks with a recruiter filling roles specifically for AR/VR but I have no prior experience (Though I have spent years keeping up with the field generally) #design #interviews #ui/ux
I went thru some phone screens for a role on the google vr team. was told the position filled with someone farther along the process pipeline (tho who knows) I wasn't super eager to leave my current role but still wonder if I should have mustered up more energy for it. is the team awesome? normal? ...Read more

I know in the past Google had the Tango project, and afaik Google Glass is still used for enterprise. Are these teams still around and growing? What are their names? #arvr #software #engineering #google #googlehardware
Minus Netflix, no FAANG in top pay (except meta at principal level) Sorry googlers, I’m sure this will make you all fume knowing Google is not what it once was (the coping awaits in the comments) Although, I’ll admit Databricks and stripe in particular are paper money right now. Also AR/VR killin...Read more
Google keeps getting voted as the best company to work in Blind but I wonder how they take care of employees when it decides to kill a project (which is quite often). I hear they loathe long term investment in emerging tech (like VR) and end up killing them if it does not produce revenue in a couple...Read more

Google had Google glasses. Microsoft had HoloLens. Meta has Oculus Quest. Apple now has Apple Vision Pro. Amazon is the only big tech with no AR/VR headsets.
