The mission of the Design Enablement organization is to work closely with product design teams across the company to define and develop advanced EDA tools, flows and methodologies, and disseminate best known methods to support NXP product design world-wide.
Job Description:
Growing SoC design size and complexity have made emulation and prototyping an indispensable part of SoC design and verification. In this role, you will be part of a world-wide team of expert level engineers who support NXP’s emulation hardware infrastructure, used by engineers from multiple NXP design centers world-wide. You will help design engineers use the emulation hardware by debugging / troubleshooting hardware, software, and IT issues affecting our emulation users. You will also employ a metrics-driven approach to identify optimization opportunities and to improve the emulation infrastructure and user environment to enable higher utilization and a better user experience. You will become an expert in all aspects of emulation and prototyping methodologies from multiple emulation vendors.
Key Challenges:
• Supporting a world-wide user-base on multiple emulation platforms from multiple vendors
• Building an infrastructure that will ensure 24x7 availability of the emulation resources
• Hands-on installation and support of emulation hardware in Austin, TX
• Understanding the desired emulation use cases to develop better flows and ways of working
• Improving the way users access the emulators to increase utilization
• Help develop new emulation use cases and influence management decisions on future hardware purchasing
Cross functional aspects:
• Collaborate with members of the emulation model build team to define the emulation flow
• Support design engineers from all NXP sites world-wide
Key Job Qualifications:
• BS/MS degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related area
• 5+ years’ industry experience in semiconductor design, design support, or IT support.
• A good understanding of HW/SW debugging methodologies with prior experience using any of the standard HW/SW debugging tools
• Strong experience using the Linux operating system and scripting languages required; experience supporting a large HPC cluster of Linux servers a strong plus
• Experience with one or more emulation or prototyping technologies (e.g., FPGA, ZeBu, HAPS, Veloce, Palladium, or similar)
• Experience programming in Python, Tcl, and C++
• Experience with metrics collection and data analytics a plus
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written, in English
• An analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Enjoys working in a fast-paced, multi-project, international team, learning and using state of the art tools and technology
